About the position

The Shift Leader at Taco Bell is an hourly position focused on assisting management with routine administrative and operational tasks within the restaurant. This role emphasizes driving customer service excellence, maintaining product and facility standards, and overseeing food handling procedures. The Shift Leader also plays a key role in crew training and may take full responsibility for the restaurant's opening and closing when management is unavailable.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain fast, accurate service and positive guest relations while ensuring product consistency with company quality standards.
  • Conduct periodic food safety audits to ensure compliance with health regulations.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to crew members on customer service, product quality, and speed of service.
  • Share day-to-day responsibilities for cash procedures, including bank deposits and verifying drawers, with the management team.
  • Conduct daily inventory checks and complete shift-to-shift food safety audits.
  • Review facility and equipment readiness to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Monitor inventory, food preparation, and order fulfillment to adhere to company standards.
  • Resolve bottlenecks in service to achieve speed with service (SWS) goals.
  • In the absence of management, oversee food and supplies deliveries and manage restaurant opening and closing procedures.
  • Provide hands-on training for crew members in the Learning Zone.

Requirements

  • Experience in a fast-paced food service environment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to provide coaching and feedback to team members.
  • Basic understanding of cash handling procedures and inventory management.
