About the position

The Shift Leader at Stonington Institute is responsible for overseeing the orientation and supervision of new residents, coordinating activities to ensure the safety and engagement of all residents and staff. This role involves working closely with the Program Director and Assistant Program Director to train and coach new hires, supervise residential staff, and manage resident issues. The Shift Leader plays a critical role in maintaining compliance with program rules and facility policies while providing a supportive environment for residents in a substance abuse treatment setting.

Responsibilities

  • Orients, trains, and coaches new hires.
  • Supervises residential staff.
  • Responds to resident issues related to housing in consultation with the Program Director.
  • Communicates resident behavior to clinicians and case managers.
  • Intervenes with residents at risk of leaving the program against clinical advice.
  • Assures implementation of residents' daily schedule.
  • Ensures compliance with program rules and facility policies.
  • Completes daily bed count and updates bedboard.
  • Conducts weekly tours and inspections of each unit.
  • Works shifts on units in absence of residential staff.

Requirements

  • Certified Recovery Coach in the state of CT required.
  • Prior supervisory experience required, ideally in a residential behavioral health setting.
  • Valid driver's license required; Public Service endorsement preferred.
  • Motor vehicle record must be acceptable to company policy.
