About the position

The Operations Shift Supervisor at Kent Pet Group is responsible for leading and managing the operations during their assigned shift. This role focuses on developing the team, ensuring safety and quality standards, and optimizing production processes. The supervisor will coordinate production and maintenance needs, schedule personnel, and inspire the team to achieve high performance aligned with the company's vision and core values.

Responsibilities

  • Inspire, manage, and support direct reports towards a shared vision.
  • Manage daily operations while maintaining safety, quality, production, and sanitation standards.
  • Review daily product quality both in-process and finished product.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee shift maintenance including writing work orders and executing permits.
  • Learn and maintain qualifications for all positions and operating equipment, performing routine maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Develop, update, and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and Lockout/Tagout for all equipment in the department.
  • Train personnel to safely operate plant equipment and evaluate their performance.
  • Conduct and document training programs on safety, GMPs, HACCP, HARPC, sanitation procedures, and job-related training.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing publications.
  • Perform general administrative work, including documenting personnel changes and approving electronic time cards.
  • Collaborate on special assignments as requested by the Plant Manager.
  • Maintain close communication with the Quality team to improve product quality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role required.
  • Prior experience in a production environment required.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Working knowledge of process, equipment, and computer operating systems, specifically Microsoft Office, Microsoft Dynamics AX, SharePoint, and AS400 is a plus.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
