About the position

The Shipbuilding Test and Evaluation (T&E) Subject Matter Expert (SME) Engineer at Sayres Defense is responsible for providing expert support in Test and Evaluation for NAVSEA Program Offices. This role involves developing and managing test plans, ensuring compliance with DoD requirements, and facilitating communication among various stakeholders to support shipbuilding programs. The position requires a strong understanding of Navy shipbuilding processes and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide Test and Evaluation program management and analysis support.
• Support Program Office as subject matter expert for all T&E requirements.
• Develop the Test and Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP) and provide input to DOD 5000 series documentation.
• Review and staff test plans for each system to ensure functionality and integration across systems.
• Translate requirements from Ship Specifications into testable artifacts.
• Participate in meetings, milestone reviews, and engagements with T&E stakeholders.
• Prepare and review technical reports, status reports, and formal briefings.
• Coordinate planning of test events with various stakeholders.
• Apply knowledge of DoD 5000 and associated statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Provide direct support to Navy program office personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Test or related field.
• 5 to 10 years of relevant Test and Evaluation experience on ACAT I/II Navy Shipbuilding programs.
• Direct experience in developing required test plans and coordinating with OPNAV, OSD T&E, and COTF.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional command of MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Active Secret security clearance verifiable in DISS.
