About the position

The Material Handler position at JELD-WEN involves assisting the Distribution division in providing value-added goods and services. The role primarily focuses on operating forklifts, handling materials, and maintaining a clean and orderly work environment. This position is essential for supporting the production floor and ensuring efficient material flow within the warehouse.

Responsibilities

• Operating propane and/or electric forklift vehicles
• Performing start of shift preventative maintenance inspection
• Assisting in inventory cycle counts as needed
• Preparing and handling materials
• Gathering necessary materials to support the production floor
• Pulling materials for production
• Moving material from production staging to routes
• Stocking, replenishing, picking, and pulling materials
• Detecting and reporting defective materials
• Labeling finished products to match appropriate paperwork
• Maintaining the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
• Retrieving raw materials, semi-finished, and finished products for proper assembly
• Performing other general warehouse duties as needed

Requirements

• Previous experience in a manufacturing or similar environment is preferred, but not required
• Ability to operate a cherry picker forklift
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent work habits
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
