About the position

The Shipping and Receiving Associate plays a crucial role in managing the inbound and outbound logistics of products within a warehouse environment. This position involves effective communication with carriers, accurate data entry into the Warehouse Management System (WMS), and ensuring that all necessary documentation is completed for shipments. The associate is responsible for verifying driver identification, assigning dock doors, and maintaining professional relationships with carriers and customers.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with carriers regarding inbound and outbound product movements.
• Understand how to enter product into the WMS and how it is stored and shipped.
• Engage with drivers to verify identification and assign dock doors.
• Check drivers in and out of the facility.
• Maintain knowledge of product location within the warehouse to assign dock doors effectively.
• Communicate any issues to the warehouse for planning purposes.
• Accurately enter data from carrier/customer paperwork into the system.
• Generate bill documentation and ensure carrier reviews paperwork for accuracy.
• Report overages, shortages, and defective materials to the supervisor.
• Put all necessary information regarding appointments and driver's paperwork in order.
• Act as the final checkpoint for order completion and accuracy before releasing drivers.
• Identify extra charges for pallets, overtime, and labor, and collect appropriate charges from drivers.
• Assist Customer Accounts with posting inbound and outbound shipments.
• Maintain professional relationships with carriers and customers.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education required.
• Customer service oriented with the ability to interpret packing slips.
• Familiarity with using a WMS to process and track goods.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to operate scanners, tablets, radios, phones, and computers.
