About the position

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for managing the flow of goods in and out of the warehouse, ensuring accurate processing of shipments, maintaining inventory records, and interacting with customers. This role requires attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure timely deliveries and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Receive incoming shipments, verifying their contents against purchase orders and packing lists.
• Load and unload materials from trucks using appropriate equipment such as pallet jacks and reach trucks.
• Perform order picking tasks to fulfill customer orders accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain accurate inventory records within the warehouse management system (WMS) and assist with cycle counts as needed.
• Prepare outgoing shipments by packaging items securely and labeling them correctly for distribution.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure timely processing of all shipping and receiving activities.
• Utilize MRP systems such as AS400 for tracking inventory levels and managing stock replenishment.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations while operating equipment within the distribution center.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a shipping and receiving role or similar warehouse environment is preferred.
• Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is essential.
• Proficient in using RF scanners for tracking inventory movements.
• Ability to operate a pallet jack and reach truck safely.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
• Capable of lifting heavy packages (up to 50 pounds) and performing physical tasks throughout the shift.
• Good communication skills to work effectively with team members and other departments.
• Knowledge of distribution center operations is advantageous.
• Computer skills and customer service skills are important.
