About the position

The Shipping & Logistics Manager will oversee the company's freight and shipping operations, ensuring timely and accurate shipments while managing a team of shipping personnel. This role involves negotiating rates with transportation companies, handling international shipments, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of logistics management processes, with a focus on implementing process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily shipping operations and manage a team of shipping personnel.
• Provide written quotations as requested by vendors and customers.
• Negotiate competitive rates with shipping companies for all incoming and outgoing shipments.
• Ensure all shipments are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Process and manage import and export shipments, including preparing U.S. Customs documentation.
• Ensure compliance with all regulations.
• Oversee shipping inventory management to maintain optimal stock levels.
• Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce errors in shipping operations.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and safety standards within the warehouse.
• Conduct regular training sessions for team members on best practices in shipping and safety protocols.
• Assist with heavy lifting and moving of products when necessary.

Requirements

• Proven experience in shipping & logistics management.
• Strong knowledge of materials handling and inventory management practices.
• Proven history with negotiating rates with carriers for transportation.
• Knowledge of NATA, Free Trade Agreements, additional tariff requirements and all other related trade legislation, rules, and regulations.
• Familiarity with SAGE system is preferred.
• Great teamwork and communication needed with other departments.
• Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate and lead a diverse group of employees.
• Experience using a forklift.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement initiatives.
• Experience working with Microsoft Office Products, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Ability to lift heavy items safely and efficiently.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations related to warehouse operations.
