About the position

The Shipping Operator at Westlake Pipe & Fittings is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient handling of products as they leave production. This role involves compliance with safety regulations, maintaining inventory organization, and preparing shipments while ensuring product quality. The position requires effective communication with the shipping team and supervisors to prioritize and track shipping progress.

Responsibilities

• Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
• Follow all safety rules in the yard, including safety regulations for truck drivers and forklift operation.
• Identify every product that leaves production and transport it to the appropriate storage location after inspection.
• Maintain inventory organization and packaging integrity in preparation for shipment.
• Assemble partial units for Shipping Operators A & B as needed.
• Ensure shipments contain no damaged or sub-standard products and no improperly assembled units.
• Repair broken or incomplete units.
• Operate forklift safely and account for any damage to products and assets.
• Develop skills in loading products on transport vehicles.
• Use handheld computers and established procedures for inventory, loading, and scrapping.
• Maintain constant contact with the Supervisor and Shipping team regarding shipping priorities and progress.
• Keep the yard clear of debris.
• Assist other shipping and plant personnel as needed.
• Perform daily inspections and maintenance checks on equipment.

Requirements

• High school education required.
