About the position

The Shipping Operator position at Westlake Pipe & Fittings involves managing the shipping process of products, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and maintaining inventory organization. The role requires effective communication with supervisors and team members while performing essential duties related to the loading and transportation of products.

Responsibilities

• Perform the primary thinking encompassed by this job description.
• Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
• Follow all safety rules in the yard, including safety regulations pertaining to truck drivers loading and unloading, and forklift operation.
• Identify every product that leaves production and transport it to the appropriate storage location after proper inspection.
• Maintain inventory organization and packaging integrity in preparation for shipment.
• Assemble partial units for Shipping Operators A & B as needed.
• Ensure that shipments contain no damaged or sub-standard products and no improperly assembled units.
• Repair broken or incomplete units.
• Operate forklift safely and account for any damage to products and other assets.
• Develop skills in loading products on transport vehicles.
• Use handheld computers and established procedures for inventory, loading, and scrapping.
• Maintain constant contact with the Supervisor and Shipping team regarding shipping priorities and progress.
• Keep the yard clear of debris.
• Assist other shipping and plant personnel as needed.
• Perform daily inspections and maintenance checks on equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
