About the position

The Shipping & Receiving Coordinator is responsible for transporting incoming and outgoing materials, operating various equipment such as forklifts and hoists, and ensuring accurate processing of shipments. This role involves maintaining inventory, performing preventive maintenance on equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Transport incoming and outgoing materials to designated areas.
• Operate forklift, electrical hoist, or other power-driven equipment to load or move materials.
• Load or unload material onto or from pallets, trays, or shelves.
• Process required paperwork for shipments.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Compare identifying information and counts, weighs or measures items for outgoing or incoming shipments.
• Determine method of shipment and affix shipping labels on packed cartons.
• Assemble containers or select pre-assembled containers for shipping.
• Secure products to pallets using stretch wrap or metal banding.
• Examine outgoing shipments to ensure they meet specifications.
• Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
• Operate lift truck or hand truck to move shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
• Perform necessary computer transactions related to shipping and receiving.
• Unpack and examine incoming shipments, rejecting damaged items and recording shortages.
• Route items to appropriate departments and maintain inventory of receiving materials.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education is preferred.
• Experience with driving a forklift is required.
• Ability to understand work orders and follow instructions.
• Ability to understand and follow MEC safety policies and procedures.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs at a time.
• Physical ability to bend, twist, and lift frequently.
