About the position

The Shipping/Receiving Warehouse Operator is responsible for the efficient shipping and receiving of products at the Naugatuck facility. This role involves operating forklifts, managing inventory, ensuring quality control, and maintaining warehouse organization. The operator will work closely with the Warehouse Manager and Quality department to ensure all shipments are accurate and compliant with company standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate forklift to load and unload trucks, trailers, and containers.
  • Pick materials for shipments and build shipment pallets, ensuring accuracy with the Warehouse Manager's oversight.
  • Finalize shipments using a scanner after carrier pickup.
  • Gather and email shipment papers to Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) and the Warehouse Manager at the end of each day.
  • Inspect incoming materials for damages and sign the Bill of Lading if no damage is detected.
  • Break down incoming pallets, label materials, and move products to designated locations in the warehouse.
  • Perform truck inspections for incoming and outgoing shipments, documenting observations in a logbook.
  • Handle customer product returns and notify relevant teams upon receipt.
  • Stage production materials based on daily batch records provided by Quality.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse and dock area.

Requirements

  • Trade Degree (Associate's degree preferred)
  • 2+ years of related experience in a manufacturing/distribution company
  • Valid driver's license
  • Comfortable operating a forklift
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize time-sensitive deadlines
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in MS Office and email; experience with UPS/FedEx shipping is required; IFS experience is a plus.
