About the position

The Shipping & Receiving/Warehouse Specialist plays a vital role in the processing, preparation, and delivery of mail and packages within Host-supported locations. This position is responsible for maintaining a precise daily schedule for deliveries, ensuring timely and efficient handling of mail and shipments, and safeguarding deliveries from damage or tampering.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver mail, packages, copy products, and stationery to assigned locations per daily schedule.
  • Ensure all packages received/delivered are shipped and/or delivered the same day or advise the consignee of next day delivery.
  • Check daily and replenish mail and postage supplies as necessary.
  • Audit delivered items with delivery invoices and approve or reject deliveries based on inspections.
  • Check for contraband and ensure all shipped packages are adequately protected against damage.
  • Process shipment requests with vendors and advise package owners of arrangements.
  • Apply appropriate postage amounts and required identification to outgoing mail and packages.
  • Stock copy rooms and respond to copier fleet production needs such as clearing jams and determining if a technician is needed.
  • Monitor online production/copy requests, set up conference rooms for client meetings, and answer telephones professionally.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • 1 - 2 years of related work experience in warehouse, shipping, and receiving.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisors.
  • Ability to effectively present information to internal departments and/or large groups of employees.
  • Comfortable meeting and engaging with new people.
  • Warm and engaging demeanor with the ability to assess circumstances and offer help.
  • Basic knowledge of financial terms and principles, with the ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages.
  • Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations and solve problems in standard situations.
  • Basic analytical skills and intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite and handheld mobile technologies.
  • Ability to use a computer system to record materials received and shipped.
  • Physical ability to assist with warehouse operations and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid California Driver's License required.
