About the position

The Receiving Associate is responsible for unloading and sorting merchandise cartons received on trailers, ensuring that new merchandise is moved to the appropriate processing drop zone safely and efficiently. This role involves unpacking and preparing merchandise for the sales floor, maintaining cleanliness in the receiving area, and providing excellent customer service. The position requires physical stamina and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, particularly during peak demand periods.

Responsibilities

• Unload and sort merchandise cartons received on trailers.
• Move new merchandise to the appropriate processing drop zone using equipment such as rolling flats, carts, and z-racks.
• Unpack and unwrap merchandise to ensure readiness for merchandising on the sales floor.
• Apply sensor tags per company standards.
• Remove packing materials from processing zones and maintain cleanliness in the receiving area.
• Bail cardboard and prepare plastic for recycling.
• Ensure cleanliness of the facility, including restrooms, associate lounge, fitting rooms, and office areas.
• Exhibit a warm and friendly demeanor when helping customers and greet all customers to ensure their needs are met.
• Assist with floor tasks during peak demand periods, including seasonal sets, floor moves, daily maintenance, fill-ins, and recovery.
• Support the store's focus on Relentless Customer Care.
• Ability to ring the register.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years old or a rising senior in high school.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to use computer keyboard, standard telephone, and other related business equipment.
• Ability to lift between 10 and 72 lbs at floor level and/or team lift when necessary.
• Ability to push/pull receiving equipment weighing up to 500 lbs such as rolling flats, z-racks, and pallet jacks.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to twist, bend, and stoop to retrieve and place items.
