About the position
The Shop Attendant position at VIA Metropolitan Transit involves non-skilled work primarily focused on the cleaning and maintenance of revenue vehicles, support vehicles, and VIA facilities. Responsibilities
- Cleans and mops revenue vehicles, support vehicles, and VIA facilities as required.
- Cleans bus stop locations and bus service stations.
- Cleans equipment, bus ceilings, windows, floors, wheels, and scrubs tailgates.
- Operates and drives VIA revenue buses, paratransit vehicles, cars, trucks, tugs, and forklifts safely.
- Maintains and prepares records related to cleaning and maintenance activities.
- Follows oral and written instructions for cleaning and maintenance tasks.
- Reports hazards and unsafe conditions to supervisors.
Requirements
- Ability to read and write English effectively.
- Must possess a Texas Commercial Drivers Learners' License (CDL) (Class-B).
- Must obtain a Texas Commercial Drivers License (CDL) (Class-B) prior to completion of probationary period.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
- Knowledge of job and occupational hazards and safety precautions required in the shops.
- Ability to perform job assignments while wearing mandatory safety equipment.
Nice-to-haves
- Possession of a current CDL Class-A or Class-B license with Passenger Endorsement is preferred.
