The Shop Coordinator for the Fleet Operations Division at the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of the equipment shop. The coordinator will also provide guidance on complex repairs, oversee the vehicle and equipment make-ready process, and manage the sale process for vehicles and equipment. Additionally, the role involves approving parts acquisition requests, coordinating with district personnel and vendors, and entering work orders into the fleet information system. The Shop Coordinator will utilize various technology tools to enhance shop operations and may perform the duties of the Equipment Supervisor in their absence. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive, medium/heavy truck, or construction equipment diagnostics, maintenance, and repair, with a minimum of six years of relevant experience. An associate's degree in Automotive and/or Diesel Technology can substitute for two years of experience. The position requires a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 180 days of employment. The role is physically demanding, requiring the ability to work in extreme temperatures and lift light loads, and it necessitates wearing protective gear.
