About the position

The Shop Helper/Driver at Trane Technologies is responsible for assisting HVAC Field Technicians in the organization and delivery of environmental control systems. This role involves utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, control systems, pipe fitting, and structural layouts to support the installation and maintenance of HVAC systems. The position emphasizes customer satisfaction, effective communication, and adherence to safety standards while providing opportunities for career development and technical training.

Responsibilities

  • Assist HVAC Field Technicians in organizing and delivering environmental control systems.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance, inspections, and service requests.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with customers, vendors, and co-workers through effective communication.
  • Learn and assist in end-to-end testing, starting up, commissioning, and servicing on assigned projects.
  • Coordinate with supervising field technician/project manager to understand on-site installation and repair requirements.
  • Use software and technology, along with hand-tools, to diagnose and repair units according to blueprints or engineering specifications.
  • Enforce safety standards and maintain security of company assets.
  • Display flexibility to work overtime and weekends as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, or certificate of completion from an accredited technical school is required.
  • Prefer 2 plus years of experience in HVAC.
  • Technical School or formal training is preferred.
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software and proficiency with handheld computers (e.g., smartphone, iPad).
  • Must possess a valid driver's license for a minimum of 12 months with no major traffic violations.

  • Experience with HVAC systems and environmental control systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
