About the position

The Shop Helper position at Quality Carriers, Inc. involves assisting mechanics with preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on various mechanical systems of tractors and cargo tank trailers. The role requires a combination of technical skills and the ability to operate heavy machinery, ensuring safety and efficiency in operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist mechanics in performing preventive maintenance inspections on tractors and cargo tank trailers.
• Help with moderate to complex repairs on engines, drive trains, brakes, suspension systems, hydraulic systems, fuel systems, cooling systems, alternators, electrical systems, and other necessary power equipment.
• Operate steaming machinery and connect, monitor, and disconnect steam to the heating coils of a loaded cargo tank.
• Document heating operations on a steam log.
• Verify product names on the bill of lading with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) prior to conducting steam operations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required, trade or technical school graduate preferred.
• 1-2 years of basic maintenance and/or mechanic experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Strong computer skills.
• Ability to carry out instructions accurately.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating instructions.
• Able to operate heavy machinery similar to steamer or boiler.
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of mechanical components.
• Knowledge of using standard hand and power tools.
• Team player.
