The Assembler 1 position at Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope (OBE) is a full-time role on the 2nd shift located in Tuscaloosa, AL. The role involves assembling shower doors, inspecting materials, and ensuring quality standards are met, all while working in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Pull glass workpieces used to assemble the shower door
• Inspect all glass for defects such as chips, bubbles, scratches, blown holes, proper edgework, etc.
• Use buffer to buff all marked defects
• Inspect all metallic workpieces to ensure correct length, finish, hole placement, etc. according to work order
• Utilize a tape measure to ensure product is within guidelines
• Attach appropriate labels and tags to the glass
• Ensure the machines and tools are in good working order, perform daily cleaning and light maintenance on machinery/tools

Requirements

• Must have at least one year of construction or carpentry experience
• Must be able to work at a fast pace
• Must be able to work with a variety of hand tools and power tools
• Must be able to perform calculations and understand measurements, including converting decimals to fractions
• Must be detail-oriented and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
