About the position

The SHRA Temporary AV Technical Support position at the University of North Carolina Wilmington involves providing essential audiovisual support for various special and live events across the campus. This role is crucial in ensuring that events run smoothly by offering both technical and personal assistance with sound reinforcement, video recording, image projection, and lighting systems. The AV Technical Support staff will operate a range of audiovisual equipment, including audio consoles, PA systems, video cameras, and projectors. They will also be responsible for the loading and unloading of equipment, as well as the transportation of this equipment using university-owned vehicles. In addition to operating equipment, the AV Technical Support staff will conduct site inspections to determine the best locations for equipment setup based on client needs, equipment performance requirements, power needs, and safety considerations. They will deliver and operate ITS-owned AV equipment and perform routine maintenance and upkeep on all AV equipment to ensure optimal performance. If any issues arise, the staff will be expected to repair AV equipment on the spot to prevent interruptions in classroom or live event production schedules. This position requires flexibility in working hours, as support may be needed within the hours of 8 AM to 8 PM, Monday through Friday, and may occasionally require weekend work depending on the event schedule.
