About the position

The University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) is seeking a temporary Audiovisual Operator to provide essential audiovisual support for various special and live events across the campus. This role is crucial in ensuring that events run smoothly by offering both technical and personal support for sound reinforcement, video recording, image projection, and lighting systems. The Audiovisual Operator will be responsible for operating a range of AV equipment, including audio consoles, PA systems, video cameras, and projectors. Additionally, the role involves loading and unloading equipment, transporting it in university-owned vehicles, and conducting site inspections to determine the best locations for equipment setup based on client needs and safety considerations. The position requires the operator to deliver and operate ITS-owned AV equipment, perform routine maintenance, and conduct repairs on AV equipment as needed to prevent interruptions in classroom and live event production schedules. The operator will also support classroom special events to enhance the overall experience for students and faculty. This position is part-time, with work hours ranging from 10 to 20 hours per week, depending on the event schedule, and flexibility is required to accommodate events that may occur during evenings or weekends. As a temporary position, the length of the assignment will depend on departmental needs, with the possibility of continuation. However, temporary assignments cannot exceed 11 consecutive months without a full 31-day break from employment. It is important to note that employees in temporary positions are not considered permanent state employees and do not earn leave. They are also subject to the Affordable Care Act guidelines.
