About the position

The University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) is seeking a SHRA Temporary Research Analyst II to assist with the daily operations of the UNCW-CMS Finfish Aquaculture Facility located at Wrightsville Beach. This position is part-time, requiring 20 hours of work per week, and is initially set for a duration of 6 months, with the possibility of extension depending on grant funding. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting faculty and staff in various tasks related to fish husbandry, including feeding fish and maintaining the recirculating aquaculture tank system. Additionally, the role involves conducting experimental research, measuring water quality, and collecting data samples. The position is expected to commence in the last week of June and continue until December 31, 2024. Candidates must be available to work weekday mornings from 8 AM to 12 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional duties on weekends and holidays. The role may also require on-call assistance outside of normal working hours. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working outdoors and capable of lifting up to 50 pounds. A strong mechanical aptitude is preferred, as it will aid in the maintenance and operation of the aquaculture systems. This temporary position does not confer permanent employee status, and employees in temporary roles do not earn leave. Furthermore, they are subject to the Affordable Care Act guidelines. Responsibilities
