About the position

The University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Temporary Research Analyst II to support ongoing sociological research projects within the Sociology & Criminology department. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about research and eager to contribute to the understanding of social patterns, behaviors, and cultural phenomena. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in assisting with data collection, analysis, and literature reviews, thereby contributing to the advancement of sociological knowledge and research outcomes. In this role, the Temporary Research Analyst II will conduct comprehensive literature reviews, summarizing key findings that will inform ongoing research initiatives. The candidate will be responsible for collecting, organizing, and analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data, ensuring that the research is grounded in robust evidence. Additionally, the analyst will support the preparation of reports, presentations, and academic papers, collaborating closely with the research team during brainstorming sessions and project meetings. Administrative tasks may also be required to facilitate the research process, making this position dynamic and integral to the team's success. This temporary position offers flexible working hours, typically ranging from 15 to 20 hours per week, and is ideal for individuals looking to gain valuable experience in a research setting while contributing to meaningful sociological inquiries. The anticipated hiring range for this position is $15 per hour, and the length of the assignment will depend on departmental needs, with the possibility of continuation. However, it is important to note that temporary assignments cannot exceed 11 consecutive months without a full 31-day break from employment, and temporary employees do not earn leave.

Requirements
