About the position
As a Class A Yard Horse Operator at Americold, you will be responsible for operating a Class A yard horse or tractor trailer to shuttle trailers in the yard and between warehouses located a few blocks apart. This position requires you to perform your duties primarily during the night, specifically between 10:30 PM and 7 AM, five days a week. You may also be required to work up to 2 hours of overtime per day, depending on operational needs. The schedule typically includes two days off, which are usually not consecutive. This role offers a competitive hourly wage of $25, with overtime pay applicable after 40 hours of work per week. Responsibilities
- Operate a Class A yard horse or tractor trailer to shuttle trailers in the yard and between warehouses.
- Perform work primarily between 10:30 PM and 7 AM, five days a week.
- Manage up to 2 hours of overtime per day as required by operational needs.
- Ensure safe and efficient transportation of trailers within the designated areas.
Requirements
- A valid and current Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) in the state of residence.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent verifiable CDL A experience.
- No more than four (4) moving violations in the past 36 months.
- No more than two (2) moving violations in the previous 12 months.
- No driving while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs for the past five (5) years.
- No preventable accidents involving a fatality, bodily injury treated away from the scene, or disabling damage to a motor vehicle within three years.
- No violations for reckless driving, speeding 15 MPH over the speed limit, lane changes, or texting/handheld device use while driving within the last three (3) years.
- Demonstrated written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills sufficient to read and interpret road maps and road signs.
Nice-to-haves
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Experience with refrigerated (reefer) trailers preferred.
