About the position

The SIEM Engineer position at Northrop Grumman is part of the Military Internship Program (DoD SkillBridge), designed for transitioning service members to gain civilian work experience. This role focuses on supporting a Cyber Security program, specifically utilizing Splunk for security information and event management. The position offers an opportunity to develop skills in a collaborative environment while contributing to the organization's mission of enhancing security measures.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Splunk queries to extract, analyze, and visualize security data.
• Design user-friendly Splunk dashboards and reports for various stakeholders.
• Configure and maintain Splunk infrastructure for optimal performance.
• Utilize Splunk Enterprise Security for threat detection and analysis.
• Investigate security incidents and conduct root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Splunk with various platforms.
• Document Splunk configurations and prepare comprehensive reports.
• Collaborate with network engineering teams to deploy network Test Access Points (TAPS).
• Implement and manage network TAPs for monitoring traffic.

Requirements

• US Citizenship with an active DoD Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with Splunk or equivalent SIEM.
• Must possess or be able to obtain DoD 8570 Certification for IAT Level II or higher.
• Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience, or 3 years with a Master's degree.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
• Relevant certifications like Splunk Core Certified Power User or Splunk Certified Architect.
• Working knowledge of network security controls and related solutions.
• Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems.
