About the position

The Siemens Gas Turbine Technical Services Lead (TSL) at Calpine Corporation plays a crucial role in supporting the Gas Turbine Technical Services Director (TSD) by overseeing inspection and maintenance activities for Siemens Gas Turbines across the fleet. This position involves managing outage planning, repair necessities, and ensuring safety and quality in maintenance operations while balancing time, budget, and market requirements. The TSL will also provide technical support, participate in root cause analysis, and supervise OEMs and third-party vendors to ensure efficient generator maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary backup for the TSD, focusing on Siemens gas turbine models.
• Support maintenance planning and execution for Siemens gas turbines, both remotely and on-site.
• Track and administratively support outages as necessary.
• Participate in root cause analysis and manage the associated process and corrective measures.
• Provide technical support for online conditions, forced outages, and outage discoveries.
• Review outage reports and aid in planning, scheduling, and budgeting associated with gas turbine maintenance.
• Lead development of fleet issue solutions and fleet-specific QA/QC sheets as necessary.
• Supervise OEMs and third-party vendors in their generator-related scopes, promoting safety and quality.
• Perform inspections and mechanical maintenance on gas turbines and generators.
• Evaluate test and inspection data supplied by other vendors and provide maintenance and repair recommendations.
• Solicit and select vendors for quotes for outage scopes as necessary.
• Instruct millwrights in performing repairs on gas turbines and generators.
• Write reports to document outage findings and activities, providing recommendations for future outages.
• Expand TE knowledge base and supervise mechanical disassembly/reassembly if necessary.
• Communicate with and educate upper management and plant management on Siemens gas turbine issues and events.
• Research and develop improved inspection, testing, and repair techniques.
• Work with other Calpine organizations to streamline outages.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree or better in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of Siemens gas turbine inspection, testing, and maintenance practices.
• Minimum 15 years of experience preferred.
• 5+ years of Siemens Turbine Maintenance experience, focusing on Siemens gas turbines.
• Ability to be self-motivated and self-directed to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Curiosity and determination to drive innovative solutions and expand the acquired knowledge base.
• Organizational skills, communication skills, and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

• Significant experience with Siemens gas turbine technologies.
• Military, OEM, or Merchant Marine power maintenance training.
• 7+ years in the industry.
