About the position

The Sign Shop Production Manager will play a crucial role in establishing and overseeing the operations of a new sign shop in Jonesboro, GA. This position is responsible for leading the production of road signs for various roadway projects, ensuring that the shop operates efficiently and meets customer requirements. The manager will convert conceptual ideas from customers into actionable production plans, demonstrating expertise in all aspects of the production process. This role requires a collaborative approach, as the manager will work closely with sales and production teams to ensure that products meet specifications and quality standards. In addition to production oversight, the manager will be responsible for creating manufacturing drawings from customer concepts, coordinating the production process, and managing the costs associated with the sign shop. The role also involves updating designs using graphic design software, creating installation patterns, and establishing processes for order fulfillment. The manager will need to schedule employees effectively to meet production timelines and ensure that the shop layout is optimized for efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a cross-functional team. Responsibilities

  • Produce manufacturing drawings from concepts provided by customers.
  • Work with Sales and Production teams to ensure products meet customer requirements and help establish pricing.
  • Ensure production designs are created in standard matching formats for clarity.
  • Review production of outsourced parts and materials to maintain quality standards.
  • Produce conceptual plans and drawings for the sales team's use with customers.
  • Produce cut files for in-house production.
  • Coordinate the production process, including materials acquisition, processing, and shipping.
  • Update designs using graphic design software.
  • Create patterns for installation.
  • Identify and track the costs of the sign shop.
  • Create processes for receiving orders, sending proofs, receiving approvals, and fulfilling orders.
  • Establish the layout of the sign shop.
  • Schedule employees to meet production schedules.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial design, engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 5 years of related work experience.
  • Ability to recommend products and equipment for the production process.
  • Proficient in graphic design software.
  • Proficient in software programs utilizing graphic layouts.
  • AutoCAD experience preferred.
  • Experience in typography, color, scale, and graphic composition.
  • Knowledge of material fabrication.
  • Experience with sign installation is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Attention to detail and advanced organizational skills must be verifiable as a top strength.
  • Familiarity with sheeting types and applications.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently and within a cross-functional team environment.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and team members.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in sign installation is a plus.
  • AutoCAD experience preferred.
