About the position

The Signal Integrity Engineer will be a key member of the high-speed copper-based I/O cable assembly design team at Amphenol High Speed Products Group. This role focuses on engineering solutions for high-speed data transmission applications, particularly in datacenter, cloud, and 5G environments, with data rates reaching up to 224Gbps per lane. The engineer will engage in design, simulation, and characterization of electrical cable assemblies while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to develop innovative interconnect products.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the design team for high-speed copper-based I/O cable assemblies.
• Conduct design, simulation, characterization, and application of high-speed electrical cable assemblies.
• Support customer needs during new product introductions and provide engineering solutions.
• Collaborate with teams to develop next-generation high-speed I/O interconnect products.
• Identify and resolve signal integrity issues for customers across various sectors.
• Assist Sales and Applications Engineers in developing strategies for product introduction.
• Support global factories in ramping up production by advising on methods and experiments.

Requirements

• BS in Electrical Engineering; MS is preferred.
• Understanding of electro-magnetic principles for digital signal integrity.
• Experience with signal integrity and electromagnetic simulation/analysis tools such as Ansys HFSS and Designer, CST Microwave.
• Experience with signal integrity measurements and debugging using TDR, VNA, pattern generators, and error detectors.
• Hands-on experience with frequency-domain and time-domain component and circuit characterization.
• Experience in component design and application of high-speed cables/connectors into communications equipment is a plus.
• Familiarity with Matlab, ADS, and HSPICE is a plus.
