About the position

As a Signal Integrity Engineer at 3M, you will engage in high-speed interconnect product development, collaborating with a diverse team to analyze and enhance signal integrity performance. This role involves hands-on work in the Signal Integrity Lab, leading root cause analyses, and supporting new product development initiatives. Your expertise will contribute to ensuring that interconnects meet customer and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day involvement with the Signal Integrity Lab, including technicians and resources for characterizing high-speed interconnects.
  • Analyze signal integrity data and generate reports demonstrating interconnect performance relative to customer and industry standards.
  • Lead root cause analysis and correction of signal integrity performance failures.
  • Perform signal integrity design simulations related to connectors, cables, and pc boards in support of high-speed interconnect product development and SI test vehicle construction.
  • Participate in cross functional new product development teams to provide signal integrity engineering support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Physics from an accredited institution.
  • Five (5) years of industry experience with an understanding of signal integrity, transmission lines, and electromagnetics.
  • Experience with signal integrity measurements using a VNA & TDR equipment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Masters degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Physics with preferred emphasis on Signal Integrity.
  • Familiarity with processing S-parameters, performing time domain conversions, analyzing crosstalk behavior, and generating eye diagrams.
  • Experience with signal integrity and simulation/analysis tools such as Ansys HFSS and Designer, CST Microwave Studio, HSPICE, MATLAB, Keysight PLTS, and Keysight ADS.
  • Experience laying out high-speed pc boards in Cadence Allegro or similar design tools.
  • Ability to create CAD models and drawings.
