About the position

The Signal Integrity Engineering Intern position at Amphenol Communications Solutions is a summer internship designed for students pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics. The intern will support the Automation Engineering group by assisting in various tasks related to the design, testing, and analysis of high-speed electrical connectors and interconnect systems. This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a leading company within the telecommunications and data communications market.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in writing scope of work documents.
  • Design, process, and analyze testing results.
  • Deploy tooling and automation for engineering tasks.
  • Support the development, fabrication, and build of prototypes.
  • Design, simulate, characterize, and apply high-speed electrical connectors and backplane systems.
  • Conduct circuit and PCB layout with an understanding of EM and signal integrity issues.
  • Test high-speed interconnect products using VNA or TDR equipment.
  • Help customers solve high-speed data transmission problems.
  • Collaborate with internal Sales Engineers on product strategies.

Requirements

  • Completed sophomore or junior year in Electrical Engineering or Physics.
  • Experience with signal integrity and simulation/analysis tools such as Ansys HFSS, CST Microwave, HSPICE, MatLab, and ADS is a plus.
  • Understanding of frequency-domain and time-domain component and circuit characterization.
  • Familiarity with test and calibration methods.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with signal integrity simulation tools.
  • Knowledge of PCB layout and EM understanding.
