About the position

The Simulation Lab Operations Manager at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the simulation training programs, ensuring effective management of staff, resources, and budgets. This role involves coordinating multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care through simulation-based training, while also fostering a positive work environment that promotes professional development and quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all assigned staff and team activities on a daily basis, including human resources and financial accountabilities.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide input on human resource decisions such as hiring, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
  • Attract talent, develop staff, and implement an effective performance management process.
  • Determine tactical approaches, resources required, goals, and plans of action with milestones for assigned objectives.
  • Create an effective working environment that encourages communication, professional development, and quality.
  • Maintain positive relations with employees, physicians, patients, and the community.
  • Oversee all aspects of simulation/training/exercise programs including strategic planning, execution, and sustainment.
  • Develop budgets and briefs for department leadership and stakeholders for funding approval.
  • Ensure adherence to budget and reporting requirements.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring smooth execution according to hospital guidelines.
  • Lead teams operating human patient simulator systems and associated medical equipment during training exercises.
  • Facilitate operational and technical aspects of post-exercise debriefings using audiovisual platforms.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to networking, audiovisual platforms, and simulation equipment.
  • Ensure immersive simulations/events adhere to best practices in simulation learning.
  • Manage maintenance of all assigned team equipment and ensure proper working order and software updates.
  • Oversee medical supply inventory procedures to enhance simulation learning delivery.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and supplies, forecasting and approving reorders as necessary.
  • Ensure safe transportation of equipment for simulation training purposes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Simulation, Technology, Education, Healthcare, Business, or applicable discipline.
  • Three years of functional area experience in simulation operation/education/training, preferably with human patient simulator platforms and audiovisual equipment/operating software.
  • One year of management/leadership experience.
  • Valid Driver's License and driving record may be required based on the assigned facility.
