About the position
The Simulation Software Engineer - Maneuver Dominance at Anduril Industries is responsible for designing and building digital engineering infrastructure and environments for Virtual Warfare. This role involves collaborating with a diverse team to create a software-first integration environment for uncrewed combat systems, focusing on the development of perception and autonomy algorithms for aerial robotic systems. The engineer will manage stakeholder needs and integrate various technologies to evaluate autonomy and vehicle performance across different conditions.
Responsibilities
- Work with a diverse team of systems engineers, software engineers, and mechanical/electrical engineers to define and build a software-first integration environment for uncrewed combat systems.
- Build and integrate model-, software-, and hardware-in-the-loop components by leveraging first and third party technologies related to simulation, data management, compute infrastructure, networking, and more.
- Manage the various needs of both internal and external stakeholders to build and integrate tooling suites which evaluate autonomy and vehicle performance across a diverse range of conditions and reference missions.
- Collaborate with team members and partners in the autonomy domain to build technologies and processes which enable users to safely and rapidly develop and deploy autonomous systems at scale.
Requirements
- Strong engineering background from industry or school, ideally in areas/fields such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics.
- High ownership and autonomy across the end-to-end lifecycle of software development.
- A deep, demonstrated understanding of how computers and networks work, from a single desktop to a multi-cluster cloud node.
- At least 3+ years working with programming languages such as Rust or C++.
- Experience building scalable backend software systems with various data storage and processing requirements.
- Experience with industry standard cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), CI/CD tools, and software infrastructure fundamentals (networking, security, distributed systems).
- Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases.
- Eligible to obtain and hold a DoD security clearance.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience implementing robot or autonomous vehicle testing frameworks in a software-in-the-loop or hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) environment.
- Experience with modern build and deployment tooling (e.g. NixOS, Terraform).
- Experience designing complex software systems, and iterating upon designs via a technical design review process.
- Familiarity with industry standard monitoring, logging, and data management tools and best practices.
- A bias towards rapid delivery and iteration.
