About the position
The Simulator Pilot Instructor at American Airlines is responsible for conducting flight simulator training for pilots, ensuring compliance with company policies and FAA regulations. This role involves training in various environments, evaluating student performance, and assisting in the development of training materials. The instructor will also fill in for Captain or First Officer training as needed and may train other instructors.
Responsibilities
- Conduct simulator phase of pilot flight instruction
- Provide training and instruction in compliance with American Airlines policies and FAA requirements
- Conduct training in various environments including classrooms and flight simulators
- Distribute approved training materials for effective training
- Train other instructors as needed
- Recommend pilots for checks
- Evaluate and report on student performance and proficiency
- Fill an open seat for Captain or First Officer training as required
- Assist in developing and maintaining courseware and curriculum
Requirements
- Possess an FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate
- Minimum of one year as a pilot in command or second in command of a large turbojet fixed-wing aircraft
- Ability to read, write, fluently speak and understand English
- Must be evaluated and accepted by an instructor selection board
- Demonstrate competent ability to perform all curriculum segments after instructor training
- Fulfill FAA criminal background checks for airport security access
- Pass a DOT covered safety-sensitive drug test
- Possess a valid US passport
