About the position

The Affordable Lending Manager at Freddie Mac plays a crucial role in enhancing access to homeownership and rental housing for first-time homebuyers and low-to-moderate income borrowers. This position involves establishing and managing relationships with lenders and stakeholders to promote responsible lending practices and improve credit access for underserved markets. The role encompasses relationship management, market analysis, and management of affordable lending initiatives, directly supporting the division's goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement initiatives among internal and external stakeholders, including Seller/Servicers.
  • Manage relationships with national, regional, and community lenders to enhance corporate brand and reputation.
  • Interact with senior management on matters concerning various functional areas and customers.
  • Analyze market data to identify trends and develop strategic direction.
  • Support the Sales/Sourcing organization in executing Seller plans for affordable lending and community outreach.
  • Supervise progress against plans and provide corrective actions as needed.
  • Participate in the rollout of new Affordable Lending products and initiatives.
  • Establish and ensure adherence to budgets, schedules, and performance requirements.

Requirements

  • College Degree or equivalent professional experience; advanced studies or degree preferred.
  • 8-10 years of related experience, with 2+ years in management.
  • Experience in the mortgage industry, particularly in loan origination, is preferred.
  • Proven experience in relationship management and problem solving.
  • Public/private partnership experience and knowledge of housing community development programs is a plus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking.

  • Knowledge of the Making Homes Affordable Act and government initiatives.
