About the position

The SIS/Database Administrator position at the Sonoma Valley Unified School District is a critical role within the IT and Educational Services department. This position is responsible for managing and maintaining the Student Information System (SIS) and other related databases that support the district's educational services. The administrator will ensure the integrity, security, and availability of data across various platforms, facilitating effective data management and reporting for the district's educational needs. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of database management systems, data analysis, and the ability to work collaboratively with educational staff to meet their data needs. In this position, the SIS/Database Administrator will be tasked with configuring, monitoring, and optimizing database performance, as well as troubleshooting any issues that arise. The administrator will also be responsible for implementing data governance policies and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations regarding student data privacy and security. This role will involve regular interaction with district staff to provide training and support on the use of the SIS and other databases, ensuring that all users are equipped to utilize the systems effectively. The SIS/Database Administrator will play a vital role in supporting the district's mission to provide high-quality education by ensuring that accurate and timely data is available for decision-making and reporting purposes. This position is full-time, requiring 8 hours of work per day over a 12-month calendar year, and is based at the District Office.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator or similar role.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with educational staff.
