About the position

The Site Civil Engineer - Water position at Garver Engineering involves leading the site civil design for water and wastewater treatment projects. The role is based in the Greenville Water Design Center and focuses on delivering complex designs while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. The engineer will be responsible for guiding design teams, performing hydrologic calculations, coordinating permits, and ensuring compliance with local standards, all while contributing to the improvement of community infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Guide a team of dedicated designers to produce detailed civil design plans and specifications supporting water and wastewater projects
  • Work with other design teams to develop comprehensive site plans that exceed client expectations for water and wastewater facilities
  • Perform and review hydrologic and hydraulic calculations for grading and drainage plans
  • Develop yard piping plans and analyze hydraulic modeling scenarios
  • Coordinate with local entities for stormwater, floodplain, grading, and other permits
  • Assist in navigating local developmental standards for permitting improvements
  • Recommend construction sequencing for construction phase services
  • Develop criteria for construction and plant operations
  • Train and grow the design team with experience and expertise

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or biosystems/agricultural engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • Five or more years of direct site civil design experience
  • Professional Engineer Licensure (PE)

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in civil, environmental, or biosystems/agricultural engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • Floodplain Manager certification (CFM)
  • Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D software
  • Experience designing lift stations, booster pump stations, pipelines, and treatment facilities
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience developing erosion and sedimentation control plans
  • Active participation in local professional organizations
