About the position

Dewberry is seeking a Site Civil Project Engineer for its Land Development operation in Gainesville, VA. This role involves civil design and land development activities, including grading, storm water management, and roadway design. The engineer will work on projects from concept to completion, ensuring high-quality design and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

• Preparation and coordination of all Land Development design aspects.
• Work closely with Senior Project Manager and agency staff.
• Mentor junior staff.
• Client communication, budget oversight, and responsibility.
• Preparation and oversight of construction documents and technical reports.
• Conduct engineering analyses, cost estimates, and quality control/quality assurance.
• Monitor project milestones and completion dates.

Requirements

• BS Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in Land Development Projects; 5 years preferred.
• FE required; PE in Virginia preferred.
• Experience with Northern Virginia land development projects preferred.
• Strong technical capabilities in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Strong understanding of civil site design for retail, commercial, and urban redevelopment projects.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D or other model-based software is desirable.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Understanding of gas/power sector projects.
• Ability to become proficient in Dewberry engineering practices and software.
