About the position

The Site Coordinator coordinates the construction of safe, decent, affordable housing by overseeing the construction process on all HFH-MV projects. This role involves supervising and leading on-site construction, including the construction site supervisors and crew leaders, as well as construction volunteers. The Site Coordinator is responsible for creating a positive and encouraging work atmosphere, procuring construction materials through a competitive bid process, and assisting in the development of donations of professional labor and in-kind materials. Additionally, the Site Coordinator creates schedules and budgets for the entire scope of HFH-MV projects, plans for future construction cycles, and ensures that safety guidelines are followed on-site while providing adequate training to the construction team and daily volunteers. The main responsibility includes delivering homes/projects on time and within budget while ensuring compliance with applicable building codes.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the construction process on all HFH-MV projects
  • Supervise and lead on-site construction, including site supervisors and crew leaders
  • Create a positive and encouraging work atmosphere
  • Procure construction materials through competitive bid process
  • Assist in the development of donations of professional labor and in-kind materials
  • Create schedules and budgets for HFH-MV projects
  • Plan for future construction cycles
  • Ensure safety guidelines are followed on-site
  • Provide training to construction team and volunteers
  • Deliver homes/projects on time and within budget
  • Ensure homes are built in accordance with applicable building codes
  • Evaluate potential donated homes/REO properties for feasibility of future projects
  • Prepare materials list from plans and organize timely ordering and delivery of materials
  • Implement a regular process for bidding subcontractors and vendors
  • Develop good working relationships with subcontractors
  • Work with municipal staff on permits, inspections, and specifications
  • Maintain tools and equipment inventory
  • Conduct walk-through inspections with families upon completion of homes
  • Coordinate with staff for optimal volunteer coverage
  • Recruit, train, and oversee a team of site supervisors and crew leaders
  • Document in-kind donations and communicate with Executive Director
  • Ensure proper training and instructions on construction practices and safety procedures are given to all volunteers

Requirements

  • Experience in the residential construction industry
  • Experience with repairs and remodels
  • Experience managing volunteer-run construction programs is a plus
  • Experience managing teams of skilled professionals
  • Basic mathematical aptitude to calculate building measurements and quantities
  • Safety and first-aid training for emergencies on-site
  • Basic computer skills
  • Background check required
