About the position

The Site Finance Manager at SSR Mining will play a pivotal role in the financial management of the Marigold mine located in Valmy, NV. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this position is integral to the Marigold Leadership Team and involves leading multiple teams across various functional areas including Accounting, Warehouse, Procurement, Payroll, and IT. The Site Finance Manager will be responsible for setting key performance indicators (KPIs), managing performance, and providing mentorship to team members to achieve the financial goals and objectives aligned with corporate strategies and policies. This role also emphasizes compliance with local staff regulations and corporate financial standards. In this capacity, the Site Finance Manager will maintain open lines of communication with managers regarding accounting functions and any changes that may affect their operations. The role requires close collaboration with the Accounting, IT, and Warehouse teams to ensure essential functions are performed effectively. The manager will oversee the quality control of financial reports, review monthly financial statements, and analyze variances to ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal accounting policies. Additionally, the Site Finance Manager will coordinate audits with both internal and external auditors, ensuring that financial controls are implemented and monitored in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. The position also involves responding to financial inquiries by gathering, analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting data. The Site Finance Manager will ensure that all data entry documents are verified and entered into the accounting system according to established procedures and timelines. Furthermore, the role includes providing input and support for the development and implementation of new initiatives aimed at improving accounting processes. The manager will also be responsible for ensuring the proper operation of communication systems, IT, security, and facilities by identifying needs and coordinating with service providers for maintenance and upgrades. As a member of the Marigold Site Leadership Team, the Site Finance Manager will contribute to the development of strategic organizational initiatives aimed at enhancing site-wide performance objectives. Safety and environmental leadership is a critical aspect of this role, requiring the manager to set an example, inspire a safety vision, and empower the workforce while celebrating successes. The Site Finance Manager will also develop and implement annual financial operating and capital budgets and forecasts, ensuring compliance with organizational and strategic expenditure requirements. Building and maintaining positive professional relationships with vendors and co-workers is essential, as is providing balanced strategic leadership for both short-term and long-term initiatives. The manager will lead staff in daily operations, ensuring adherence to Marigold policies and procedures, and will be accountable for fostering a safe and productive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage teams in Accounting, Warehouse, Procurement, Payroll, and IT functional areas.
  • Maintain communication with managers regarding accounting functions and changes.
  • Work closely with Accounting, IT, and Warehouse to perform essential functions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Business, majoring in Accounting and Finance.
  • Professional accounting designation preferred.
  • 15 - 20 years of related accounting and general office experience required.
  • Strong understanding of accounting/financial procedures and administration.
  • Knowledge of basic economic, budgeting, and accounting principles.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Solomon financial reporting system preferred.
  • Experience implementing ERP systems preferred.
  • Experience leading major change initiatives is an asset.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a mining environment is preferred.
