About the position

Cortica is seeking a Nurse Practitioner III to join its expanding team in Greensboro, NC. This role involves conducting comprehensive patient intakes, screenings, and assessments tailored to the unique needs of children with neurodevelopmental differences and their families. The Nurse Practitioner will collaborate with specialists to provide holistic care, including nutrition evaluation and ongoing medical management, while also educating families on various health topics. The position is integral to Cortica's mission of delivering life-changing care to children and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Complete thorough patient intakes, screenings, and assessments that incorporate the unique characteristics and needs of each patient and family member into the plan of care.
  • Triage referrals for acute needs to other members of the Cortica team.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team members to coordinate compendium of care for each patient.
  • Utilize the nursing process, scientific reasoning and critical problem solving to practice within the scope of responsibilities as defined by the State Board of Nursing including placing orders and screening tests in accordance with approved protocol(s) and guidelines.
  • Provide ongoing education to families enrolled in our medical program on a diverse set of well-delineated topics including what it means to have an autism label, how to help your child sleep, pill-swallowing, sexuality, navigating the school system and much more.
  • Provide nutrition evaluation and dietary support in concert with our speech and occupational therapy team, based on the SOS feeding approach and Cortica's nutrition framework.
  • Work with cognitive and behavioral child neurologists and pediatricians to provide ongoing care for attention, sleep, headaches, and challenging behavior, medication management as well as medical follow-ups.

Requirements

  • Knowledgeable regarding diagnoses and therapies for conditions such as Autism, ADHD, Anxiety, Developmental Coordination Disorder, Speech and Language delay, Sensory Processing Disorder, Headaches, Insomnia, Epilepsy, and other neurodevelopmental diagnoses.
  • Minimum of 12 months in pediatric practice in an outpatient setting, preferably in behavioral neurology and/or Neurodevelopmental Medicine (NDM) and pediatric behavior disorders, including autism.
  • Proficient in ADIR/ADOS diagnostic evaluation (Gold standard).
  • Telemedicine skillset including ability to leverage multiple forms of technology simultaneously in efforts to document while connecting with patients (EMR, virtual wait rooms).
  • Current and unrestricted license and/or certification required to practice within clinical domain and obtain cross-state licensure as needed.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
