About the position

As a Site Operations Manager in West Union, IL, you will oversee the operations of a 150 MW solar generation site, ensuring efficient management of day-to-day operations, maintenance, and compliance with corporate strategies and safety regulations. You will report to the Central Division Regional Operations Manager and be responsible for providing technical and management support, supervising personnel, and maintaining site performance while promoting a safety-oriented work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support operations of the solar generation site, including maintenance and fiscal functions.
  • Provide technical and management support for the design and operations of the solar site.
  • Monitor and manage site performance and availability.
  • Supervise site operating personnel and service providers to ensure quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Achieve substation technician certification within 12 months of hire date.
  • Perform necessary substation and Balance of Plant (BOP) switching Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) functions.
  • Troubleshoot and repair High Voltage (HV)/BOP systems as needed.
  • Manage site North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) compliance process.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, as well as environmental requirements.
  • Develop and ensure adherence to procedures to prevent environmental spills and ensure proper training of personnel.
  • Utilize a computer-based automated maintenance management system for operations and maintenance files.
  • Manage a safety program that complies with all Federal and State requirements.
  • Set objectives for site personnel and manage their performance through evaluations.
  • Oversee training to enhance employees' technical knowledge and professional development.
  • Communicate regularly with ENGIE company representatives and maintain good relations with stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with Purchase Power Agreements and optimize assets while minimizing penalties.

Requirements

  • Technical diploma or high school diploma.
  • Seven years of experience in a related industry.
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience in technical, operating, or maintenance roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of solar power generating equipment and technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience with leadership, management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 25% of the time, including overnight stays.
  • Physical capability to climb and work off ladders or elevated surfaces.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
