About the position

The Site Quality Inspector for Solar projects at Black & Veatch is responsible for ensuring that all construction activities meet quality standards and specifications. This role involves implementing and maintaining quality programs, coordinating with various stakeholders, and supervising site quality control staff. The inspector will conduct audits, manage documentation, and interface with clients and regulatory representatives to ensure compliance and quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes, implements, and maintains site quality program.
  • Coordinates with engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, and regulatory representatives to ensure work is done correctly.
  • Assures work on-site meets applicable codes and specifications.
  • Conducts surveillance and audits of site Contractor Quality Control Programs.
  • Manages all aspects of welder qualification on-site testing.
  • Issues, controls, and coordinates Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) and Non Destructive Examination (NDE) contacts.
  • Establishes inspection plans and tracks inspections/actions identified.
  • Approves site testing such as soils testing, concrete placement, and hydro tests, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Reviews and controls documentation for the certification of construction equipment and testing equipment.
  • Reviews turnover packages prior to handoff to Startup.
  • Assists in the coordination of punchlist walkdowns/inspections and manages the punchlist.
  • Collates Quality Control documentation for final handover to Owner.
  • Interfaces with clients and government officials.
  • Develops and implements quality programs to meet company and division quality goals.
  • Acts as Quality Consultant for internal and external clients.
  • Provides supervision, training, development, and performance management of direct reports.
  • Acts as a mentor to other quality professionals.
  • Implements Safety, Quality, Ethical Standards, and Lessons Learned in accordance with Division Policies.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of construction supervisory experience with a degree, or 5+ years without.
  • Knowledge of quality standards and practices.
  • Knowledge of construction technology and the EPC industry.
  • Ability to read Erection Drawings, P&IDs, and Isometrics.
  • Familiarity with National and International Codes and Standards.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and project budget processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Engineering, Quality, Business or Construction Management degree or craft apprenticeship preferred.
  • Certification in discipline (e.g., AWS, CWI) or relevant geographical equivalent certification is desired.
