About the position

The position is for a security engineer within the JMET group at Apple IS&T, responsible for providing critical security services across all product lines. The role involves designing, implementing, and supporting security initiatives that enhance customer safety and privacy, particularly in relation to Apple hardware. The engineer will work on automating processes, resolving technical production issues, and collaborating with multi-functional teams to ensure the success of product launches and security initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Automate processes and document procedures for the benefit of others.
• Provide incident resolution for all technical production issues.
• Create and maintain accurate documentation reflecting system configurations.
• Write justifications and training materials for complex topics.
• Document procedures and interact with other Apple staff and management.
• Provide guidance to improve system stability, security, efficiency, and scalability.
• Determine future capacity needs and investigate new products/features.
• Administer backup systems and ensure proper execution.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support for urgent critical issues.

Requirements

• Knowledge in at least one scripting language (Go/Python preferred).
• Experience in Computer Science Fundamentals.
• Relevant internship experience in DevOps or SRE.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Splunk/Grafana for system monitoring.
• Familiarity with tools such as Jenkins, Sonar, Artifactory, Docker Registry.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes concepts (Networking, Storage, Secrets).
• Desire to write tools and applications to automate work.
• Ability to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions quickly.
• Understanding of Linux users, groups, filesystems, and process handling.
• Familiarity with cloud providers (AWS or GCP) and load balancer concepts.
