About the position

The Site Reliability Engineer role at Apple involves working on large-scale data infrastructure to enhance the user experience by ensuring the reliability and performance of analytics applications. The position focuses on automating processes, managing compute and storage instances, and collaborating with engineers to address complex data and application issues. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of key applications like Mail and Safari while supporting the stability of macOS and iOS.

Responsibilities

• Build, monitor, and troubleshoot complex data infrastructure at the petabyte scale.
• Support the continuous development and deployment of multi-service analytics applications.
• Develop tools and processes to automate the management of systems and data.
• Write code to automate processes to ensure reliability.
• Dive into complex data and application issues to drive root cause analysis of large-scale problems.

Requirements

• Experience with at least one of the following languages: Python, Ruby, Java, Scala.
• Experience with Linux systems administration.
• Passion for quality and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Demonstrable experience managing and supporting large-scale distributed Big Data applications from development to production.
• Experience with platforms such as HDFS, Yarn, Spark, Impala, Hbase, MapReduce, Kubernetes, or other cloud services.
