About the position

The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) for the FedRAMP Cloud Platform at Splunk is responsible for leading, designing, and building the next generation of large-scale cloud offerings. This role involves engaging with multiple service owners to implement modern SRE practices, observability, Chaos Engineering, and DevOps methodologies. The SRE will work in a highly visible and impactful capacity, shaping Splunk's engineering culture and ensuring the delivery of quality products that enhance user experience.

Responsibilities

  • Own Splunk Cloud in FedRAMP environments.
  • Work across the organization to deliver quality products that delight Splunk's passionate users.
  • Collaborate with teams of engineers to build a state-of-the-art, cloud-based environment for massive-scale data processing.

Requirements

  • Experience or interest in working with regulated computing environments such as FISMA and/or FedRAMP.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, EKS, GKE, or AKS and associated ecosystems.
  • Understanding of Linux systems and networking concepts.
  • Experience with at least one programming language, preferably Go or Python.
  • Knowledge of standard methodologies related to security, performance, and disaster recovery.
  • Skilled in identifying performance bottlenecks and resolving root causes of service issues.
  • Experience assembling Open Source components into cohesive services.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience monitoring cloud environments with Splunk.
  • Experience with development and deployment in a hosted cloud environment, preferably AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience with large scale distributed cloud service development and architecture.
