About the position

The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) role at Splunk focuses on leading, designing, and building the next generation of large-scale cloud offerings within the FedRAMP environments. This position is integral to enhancing the engineering culture at Splunk by implementing modern SRE practices, observability, Chaos Engineering, and DevOps methodologies. The SRE will collaborate with various service owners to ensure the delivery of high-quality products that meet the needs of Splunk's users, while also having the opportunity to work remotely across most US states.

Responsibilities

  • Own Splunk Cloud in FedRAMP environments.
  • Work across the organization to deliver quality products that delight Splunk's passionate users.
  • Engage with multiple service owners to teach and implement modern interpretations of SRE, observability, Chaos Engineering, and DevOps.

Requirements

  • Experience or interest in working with regulated computing environments such as FISMA and/or FedRAMP.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, EKS, GKE, or AKS and the associated ecosystems.
  • Good understanding of Linux systems and networking concepts.
  • Experience with at least one programming language, preferably Golang or Python.
  • Knowledge of standard methodologies related to security, performance, and disaster recovery.
  • Skilled in identifying performance bottlenecks and resolving root causes of service issues.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience monitoring cloud environments with Splunk.
  • Experience with development and deployment in a hosted cloud environment, preferably AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience with large scale distributed cloud service development and architecture.
