About the position

The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) role at Splunk focuses on leading, designing, and building the next generation of the company's large-scale cloud offerings. This position is integral to enhancing the engineering culture at Splunk by implementing modern SRE practices, observability, Chaos Engineering, and DevOps across various teams. The SRE will work in a remote capacity, engaging with multiple service owners to ensure the delivery of quality products that meet the needs of Splunk's users.

Responsibilities

• Own Splunk Cloud in FedRAMP environments.
• Work across the organization to deliver quality products that delight Splunk's passionate users.
• Collaborate with teams of engineers to build a state-of-the-art, cloud-based environment for massive-scale data processing.

Requirements

• Experience or interest in working with regulated computing environments such as FISMA and/or FedRAMP.
• Experience with Kubernetes, EKS, GKE, or AKS and associated ecosystems.
• Understanding of Linux systems and networking concepts.
• Experience with at least one programming language, preferably Go or Python.
• Knowledge of standard methodologies related to security, performance, and disaster recovery.
• Skilled in identifying performance bottlenecks and resolving root causes of service issues.
• Experience assembling Open Source components into cohesive services.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience monitoring cloud environments with Splunk.
• Experience with development and deployment in a hosted cloud environment, preferably AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with large scale distributed cloud service development and infrastructure.
• Experience with distributed architectures/systems with optimized and scalable software.
