About the position

The Site Reliability Engineer II role focuses on ensuring the availability, performance, and efficiency of systems within the IT Operations Architecture team. This position bridges the gap between development and operations by applying software engineering principles to system administration. The engineer will engage in both operational duties and software development to enhance site reliability and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning.
  • Conduct chaos engineering to test system failures and implement remediation plans.
  • Push systems to their limits and design improvements for performance enhancement.
  • Utilize DevOps and GitOps practices to enhance automation and self-service capabilities.
  • Ensure services are highly available, resilient, self-monitoring, and self-healing.
  • Run 'game days' to test reliability assumptions and identify potential failures before they impact customers.
  • Review designs to enhance the stability of the platform and identify risks.
  • Build systems for proactive monitoring of health, performance, and security of infrastructure.
  • Improve monitoring and alerting systems to ensure appropriate paging of engineers.
  • Troubleshoot systems and network issues in collaboration with the Technical Operations Team.
  • Evolve the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and tooling to incorporate Site Reliability best practices.
  • Develop runbooks and enhance documentation.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business / Management Information Systems or related field.
  • Typically minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Linux experience with RHEL and AIX Systems.
  • Ability to read, write, and update shell scripting.
  • Understanding of PCI requirements and workflows.
  • Familiarity with the Key Encryption process and procedures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Public and Private Clouds, Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, OpenShift, Kubernetes or AWS EKS.
