About the position

As a Site Reliability Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within the Data Platform Team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring system reliability at one of the world's most iconic and largest financial institutions. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about leveraging technology to solve business problems and who are committed to applying software engineering best practices in pursuit of excellence. In this role, you will often work independently on small to medium projects, but you will also have the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams. This collaboration will not only enhance your understanding of JPMorgan Chase's business but also deepen your knowledge of relevant technologies. Your responsibilities will include executing small to medium projects independently with initial direction, eventually progressing to designing and delivering projects autonomously. You will leverage technology to address business challenges by writing high-quality, maintainable, and robust code that adheres to best practices in software engineering. Additionally, you will participate in triaging, examining, diagnosing, and resolving incidents, working collaboratively with others to address problems at their root. Recognizing the toil within your role, you will proactively work towards eliminating it through systems engineering or by updating application code. A key aspect of this position is understanding observability patterns and striving to implement and improve service level indicators, objectives monitoring, and alerting solutions for optimal transparency and analysis. This role is essential in maintaining the reliability and performance of the systems that support JPMorgan Chase's operations, making it a vital part of the organization's technological framework.

Responsibilities

  • Execute small to medium projects independently with initial direction.
  • Design and deliver projects autonomously as you gain experience.
  • Leverage technology to solve business problems by writing high-quality, maintainable, and robust code.
  • Participate in triaging, examining, diagnosing, and resolving incidents.
  • Work collaboratively with others to solve problems at their root.
  • Proactively work towards eliminating toil through systems engineering or application code updates.
  • Implement and improve service level indicators, objectives monitoring, and alerting solutions.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 2 years applied experience.
  • Ability to code in at least one programming language (Java/Python/Scala).
  • Experience maintaining a Cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with site reliability concepts, principles, and practices.
  • Familiarity with observability tools such as Grafana, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Datadog, Splunk, etc.
  • Familiarity with containers or common Server OS such as Linux and Windows.
  • Emerging knowledge of software, applications, and technical processes within a given technical discipline (e.g., Cloud, artificial intelligence, Android, etc.).
  • Emerging knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or Terraform.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Big Data platforms.
  • Ability to work on Data analysis using SQL.
  • Emerging knowledge of common networking technologies.
  • Ability to work in a large, collaborative team and vocalize ideas with peers and managers.
