About the position

As an Engineer II on the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team at Oscar, you will play a crucial role in building reliable and maintainable applications, infrastructure, and interfaces that enhance interactions with the healthcare system for both members and providers. The SRE team's mission is to develop scalable and highly reliable software systems, focusing on automation and resilience, while bridging the gap between development and operations. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders and independent contributions to projects.

Responsibilities

• Write stable, correct, and maintainable code with minimal oversight.
• Demonstrate mastery over tools, frameworks, libraries, and infrastructure.
• Manage Kubernetes clusters and core components.
• Collaborate with partners, product managers, and designers to solve problems.
• Work with other engineers to improve technology and apply best practices.
• Implement technical migrations of existing services and applications.
• Own small to medium features or infrastructure projects from design to completion.
• Contribute independently to the team and progress steadily without frequent feedback.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience with impactful accomplishments.
• Experience proposing, experimenting, and iterating on technologies and data structures.
• Strong technical contributions and a focus on building fault-tolerant, scalable software systems.
• Solid understanding of practical applications of computer science concepts.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Hashicorp Vault.
• Experience migrating from Mesos to Kubernetes.
